If you want to install an updated item on your TomTom device, you can create more space on your memory card or hard disk by removing any existing versions of the item (e.g. an older map) using TomTom HOME.
If you haven't already done so, you need to download and install TomTom HOME.

TomTom HOME is not compatible with NAVIGATOR 5/MOBILE 5- or earlier versions of these products. |

Before you begin we recommend the following
|
|
|
|
|
- Data transfer may not work properly if the connection to your computer is via a USB hub or keyboard.
- We recommend that you quit any other running applications, especially anti-virus software (Norton, McAfee etc.)
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- Connect your device
Connect your TomTom device to your computer and turn it on. If you are asked if you want to connect to your computer, tap YES.
If TomTom HOME does not start automatically, do the following:
- Windows: Click on the Start menu and go to All Programs > TomTom > TomTom HOME 2
- Macintosh: Go to Macintosh HD > Applications > TomTom HOME
- Click Remove items in TomTom HOME.

- Select the items you want to remove.

Important: Never delete a map without first making a backup of the map! |

In this example, we will show how to delete a map from your device:
- Click the
next to Maps and then select the map you want to remove.

- If this is the only map on your device, you will receive the following message. Click Yes to continue.

- Click Remove selected items
You will be prompted to confirm the items you want to delete, click OK to confirm.

- You will be prompted to make a backup (copy) of the items you wish to delete. Choose Continue to copy them to your computer or choose Don't copy to skip this step and proceed to deleting the item(s).
- HOME will proceed to copy the item to your computer (if you selected Continue) and then remove it from your device.
You can use these above steps to remove any item from your TomTom device.
